Learning Support

Learning Support at Kay-Billie-Klaer is deeply integrated into the life of the school.

The primary focus is to provide supportive services for students with academic deficiencies. The goal is to help enhance a better teaching and learning environment for all students through collaborative work with school faculty and support with curriculum development.

Scholastic Clinic Programme [SCP]

The SCP helps pupils close learning gaps and remedy academic deficiencies in English and Mathematics, the foundational subjects for academic success. Teachers will also give reading and penmanship (handwriting) instruction to pupils who need to develop these skills.

We have learning coordinators in each division. Though the learning support models differ among school divisions, each learning coordinator collaborates directly with the classroom teachers to support students with different learning styles and constructs and oversees individual learning plans for students with academic deficiencies. This enables the school to better support and follow the growth of individual pupils across all school divisions.

Pupils are evaluated at the end of every term to determine if they can continue learning independently or if they need to remain on the programme. Pupils who significantly improve are taken off the programme.
