FAQs

1. When can applications be submitted?

Applications can be submitted at any time. Please note that, since we do have wait pools in certain classes, early applications are encouraged.

First, pay the registration fee and return a completed Assessment Request Form to the Secretary. A day will be scheduled for your child to take the placement test.

We accept students from

  • 1 yr to 4 yrs 11 months (Preschool)
  • 5 yrs to 10 yrs 11 months (Primary)
  • 11 yrs and above (Secondary)

At the Primary level, Kay-Billie-Klaer runs an integration of the Cambridge and National curriculum. Students are challenged to learn by doing, and the school takes full advantage of its location to immerse students in a well-grounded primary education that makes them compete with confidence anywhere.

At the Secondary level, students choose either the Cambridge pathway to write the IGCSEs and A Levels, OR the GES pathway to write the BECE.

The academic year commences in September and ends in July.

All applicants seeking entry into KBKIS are tested, except children beginning school in the infant class. Entrance/placement tests are scheduled after a review of the application and by the Admissions Committee. The testing has several components that are mandatory for entrance, such as English and Mathematics, a writing sample, etc. All children entering Grade 1 and above must be able to, at their level, read and write unaided.

Please note that the results of screening tests may take at least five working days. We encourage families to arrange for testing at the school at their earliest convenience. The Admissions Office will contact you for scheduling and to announce final admission after the test.

We maintain low student-teacher ratios. Our maximum ceiling in preschool is 15-1, Primary 25-1, and Secondary 30-1

The teaching staff comprises trained teachers, first-degree holders and above. The staff’s work is backed by weekly in-service training sessions in Pedagogy.

The language of instruction is English. KBKIS offers French in classes from Primary through Secondary. We also offer Asante Twi in the Primary school.

Currently, we do not.

Yes, we do. We serve lunch only for a fee payable termly. Alternatively, you can pack food prepared from home for your children. Snack is also served daily.
